Idea for Our Silent Movie
My idea for the silent movie is a classic idea. Two men dressed as decorators just cleaning up after a job one of them picks up a plank of wood and turns around whilst hitting the other guy after he does this a few times. The man who keeps getting hit gets an idea to dunk but as he is dunking the bloke puts the wooden plank and puts it on the ladder but hits the mans head again on the way down. Finally the man gives in and drops a bucket of paint (empty for saftey reasons) on the guys toes.

Story Board of Silent Movie
Our task was to find a short silent movie and take screen shots to create a story board for the silent movie. When I found the silent movie I wanted to use for this task I watched a few times so I could place marks were I could take the screen shots, I was going to get six screen shots but I thought this would be too little to show the story line. So instead I used twelve screen shots this made it a little bit easier for me to find the screen shots I need. Once I cropped the screen shots I saved them put the filters on the individual images and them made them smaller and put them on two pages. The story board goes from left to right.
Page 1
This is were Charlie Chaplin runs into the lions cage and finds he is lock in with the lion and try's to find a way out. A dog shows up and wont stop barking Charlie Chaplin try's to get the dog to stop barking to prevent the lion waking up.
Page 2
A woman finds Charlie Chaplin stuck in the cage and faints with the sight also being kicked in the head by mistake from Charlie Chaplin. But while the woman is out cold on the floor the lion wakes up and finds Charlie Chaplin so the lion checks him out and goes back to the other side of the cage. The woman wakes up and releases the door but Charlie Chaplin gets cocky and stays in the cage until the lion jumps up. The next thing you know Charlie Chaplin is up a tall pole.

Introduction to Silent Movies
I think that silent movies are quite entertaining if you understand that they are actualy done for an example 'Safety First' with Harold Lloyd he actually climbs the side of the building, where unlike today most people use computers, green screens, camera angles and many other ways to make that part look more realistic. I think that the idea of making a movie without sound will be very difficult and must be carefully planned.

My version of the tutorial
This is my final image that I have made from following the tutorial off the internet I found using the software Illustrator very difficult to understand and use although it is a similar layout to photoshop elements. I didnt like using this software because I wasn't familar with it so I would rather use photoshop elements even though Illustrator does better quality images I would still stick to what I know best which is Photoshop elements.
This presentation is just to show the development my image went through each stage I am very please with the final image it has worked alot better than I expected but I will not use Illustrator again.

We had to write 800 word essay on photojournalism, at first I found this to be quite difficult to understand and start writing about it but once I got to about 300 words I started to understand it and flew through the 800 words and had to try and end it. I managed to write 850 words all together I think it has gone well.

Full monkey hanging song/story book
This is a video showing the images we have created going with the song. Some images are missing because some people never handed the work in, also the chorus has not been done so I just found an image of a monkey from the marina.
This is the book but some writing and images are missing from peoples images because they have not completed their task or not handed it in.

Final image
This is the final image of the monkey hanging song, the reason we have chosen comic sans for the font because it looks like it is from a comic book also because its looks neat. The overall image looks perfect, the correct dimensions not too much detail still colourful and shows what the lyrics are saying. I think I have chosen the perfect model which is Bobby Hammond, he looks like a stereotype police man from when they found the monkey.
Thank you Bobby Hammond for letting me take photographs and giving your time up.
Image
My First attempt to my final image.
This image bright and colourful which would be expected in a story book but it looks too much like a photograph still and that is not the objective of the project. I like the part of the tunic were you can see the detail on it. I also like the sea because it has been captured while the waves are starting to break.
My Tutors attempt at designing my image.
I think the image looks too dark and grainy for a story book image. I like the idea of seeing the detail in the models face and on the note book. Half of the image looks black and white, for a story book type effect this will not look good enough for me.
My Second attempt at cartoonising my image.
This image shows most of the detail in the models face and the sea, there is still some colours in the image that makes the image belongin a story book. I think that the image has turned out better than I expected.

This slide show is to show how my image started and going through the stages of development. I think that the slide show doesnt show enough detail so if I do something like this again I will explain each stage so other people who are not familiar with photoshop it will help them to understand what is changing and why.

Photo shoot for constable Parsons
The location of the shoot was seaton beach on some of the shots looking onto the headland were the monkey was actualy found. I tryed to use different angles in this shoot so I had many images to work with in the photoshop task. The model is my detachment commander from the Royal Marine Cadets Mr Bobby Hammond. The clothing is the Royal Marine tunic (jacket) with plain black trousers and black boots. The props he is using is my little black note pad and a small brown pencil.
The reason why I did this photo shoot was because I could not find a large enough image of a police man licking his pencil. All the images I could find was pixelated also because it shows that I have done some work outside of my course. I think that this photo shoot was a great success for the task I have been given.

My Part of the Hartlepool Monkey Hanging song
Chorus
Constable Parsons, he hurried to the scene,
He viewed the situation and he licked his pencil clean.
He said 'Causing a disturbance is a serious offence,
And everything you say it will go down in evidence'.
In this project we were given a part of the monkey hanging legend song to create into a book. This is my part of the song I got given. My idea was to get a male model wearing black trousers and black tunic. The location is going to be on seaton beach facing the headland which is were the monkey was found. There will be props such as pencil and a note pad because in the lyrics the constable parson is licking his pencil clean and this is what I want the male model to do for me.

My attempt at the mixer brush tutorial
Original Image
Final Image
I found this tutorial difficult to follow, I think that the tutorial was set out so I could understand the different stages but I couldnt follow it I found it quite difficult to do. So I think my image doesnt look as good as I wanted to look like, if I had the chance to redo this tutorial I would take my time and chose a different image to work on because it has got the website on the bottom or it and it ruins the image. I used the mixer brush to do this tutorial.

Front Page for 3 little pigs story
This is my team mate Matthew's work he found a image on the internet and opened it in photoshop elements and changed different filters on the image to create this effect. He can't remember which filters he has used to get to this stage, which doesn't help for future images that i would like to look like this.
3 Little Pigs ideas
This is my rough idea for the different images we needed for each page. As you read the story we have got the first half of it. The start of the writing talks about the first pig and what type of building materials he is going to use. So my first image is going to be the pig with straw in his mouth to show that he is going to build his house out of straw. The second image is the second pig holding a axe to show that he is going to to make his out of wood. The final pig is the pig that builds his house out of brick so it shows the pig stood with a trowel in its hand with three bricks layed beside him. The final image is the the straw house built with a wheel barrow full of straw just to show the audience a little bit more information about the house and which pig it is related to.
3 Little Pig Story
This is the story we are using so we can create some images for the story and turn it into a childrens book. We have been given half the story ech in two groups and were told to discuss our ideas and how we breaking the book down into 6 pages, and a idea for the image we are going to use for each page.

On this powerpoint we were looking at different childrens books from LadyBird, my tutor brought in some children books to look at there was Thomas The Tank Engine, Tootle the Taxi and many more. I think that most of the books that we were shown were bright and colourful to be attractive to children it will be bold and mostly full of drawings, and less writing. The writing will be plain and simple for children to easily read for young children. I think the most popular childrens story is the Gruffalo.

Different Propaganda Posters off WWII
Here are some propaganda posters I have found on the internet, I have seperated them between Brittish and German posters. I think all the posters in the slide shows are eye catching and they have a different layout to posters today. Also these posters have actualy been used during the war.

My Attempt at a Propaganda Poster
This is my propaganda poster. We were put into teams of three to create a propaganda we started to get some ideas going thenn once it came to actualy making the poster my team mates didnt do their part of the poster. So I end up doing it all by my self, I think that the background images should be changed because it looks too much, there is too much detail in the background people will concentrate more on the background than the actual images on the front. The text also needs to be changed because it doesnt look old fashioned which I was looking for. I really like the silhouetttes in the top right hand corner it shows the soldiers walking towards war with the aeroplane going over their heads.

Tutorial on photoshop
This is the final image you should get from following the tutorial, which is hyperlinked if you want to try it yourself. The steps are easy to follow and has screen shots of what that stage should look like. This is a type of a old propaganda poster that anyone can create following the simple steps combined with photoshop elements.

Ideas for propaganda posters
In this lesson we were put into groups of three and had to think of some ideas to make our own propaganda poster in the teams. Our group came up with the idea of "Coca-Cola fuels the factorys". So we want a the poster to look old which is the main idea and to have the Coca-Cola logo on the poster somewere. Also a picture of a factory with convor belts showing bottles of Coca-Cola going into the factory and weapons or ammunition tins.
This an ammunition tin its purpose is to store rounds (bullets) inside to keep them safe from rubbish because if the end gets damaged it will not shoot.

Notes Taken During Lesson
- Most of Hitlers propaganda posters are mostly red and with dark colours.
- Brittish posters talk about hitler in most of them
- I think that the "Keep clam and carry on" poster is very plain and simple but very effective because of the the white writing on the red background.

My Attempt at advanced masking technique
Using the youtube video I followed the steps of how to do the masking technique.
After I cut out the model which is Cher I had to find another image for the background, so I looked for a image which matched the pose of the model. The reason I chosen this image off the internet is because I thought it would be a challange to mask around the hair and not leave the white bits in the curls.
I wanted the background to relate with the model because the starting image has a relaxing mood to it I think that this is because of the models pose. I found it difficult to cut around the hair because the way it goes with the curls but I think that the image has turned out better than I expected at the start of the lesson. The final image looks bright and bold I think I have completed the objective of the project it looks professional.
